About the Race
The Comrades Marathon
The Comrades Marathon is an approximately 91km ultra-marathon run annually between Durban and Pietermaritzburg in South Africa. It is the world's oldest and largest ultra-marathon — and one of the most demanding endurance events on the planet. The race alternates each year between an 'Up Run' (Durban to Pietermaritzburg) and a 'Down Run' (Pietermaritzburg to Durban). Both are brutal. Both are unforgettable.

Coached by Experience
15 Consecutive Comrades Finishes.
Satish Gujaran has not just run Comrades — he has studied it. Fifteen consecutive finishes means fifteen years of learning the race: the hills, the crowds, the cut-offs, the nutrition, the mental game, and the recovery. His Comrades coaching is built on that lived experience.
The Hills
Polly Shortts, Inchanga, Botha's Hill, Fields Hill, Cowies Hill — each one demands respect and a specific strategy.
The Cut-offs
Comrades has intermediate cut-offs throughout the course. Understanding them and managing your pace around them is critical.
The Nutrition
Approximately 91km of fuelling is a race within a race. Getting it wrong costs you the finish. Getting it right keeps you moving.
The Mental Game
After 60km, Comrades becomes a mental race. Satish prepares runners for what happens in the head, not just the legs.
